you come home from the doctor with a walker. Yup, 'fraid so. I told them I couldn't get the hang of the crutches, so the doctor wrote a prescription for a walker (I'm guessing so Medicare Part B would cover it, being on SS Disability as I am). The only dignity I have left is that I requested a lime green cast with sparkles. It truly is just that. Silkweaver Gang Green Reflections??? Gangrene isn't nearly as pretty as this lime green, though. Eeeeeeeww! Horrors! This font is the color of my cast.
Anne, your Mum sounds a lot like me, being stubborn and all and not getting the hang of crutches, bless her heart! So we get this walker and my mom has to push me in a wheelchair to get me outa there. I can't use the walker either, cuz I have to hold my casted leg up (put no weight at all on it) and hop on my good leg. It takes a lot of upper body strength, which I no longer have. Plus, I have have a bad shoulder and wrist, and I have sores on my palms from the fall. I'm starting to feel hopeless and depressed. And because of health problems and all the swelling I still had, I'm supposed to keep it propped up above my heart as much as possible. Yes, someone mentioned getting pampered, and it was great at first, but it's getting to be a problem at times.
I'm going to try, in the next few days, to get to all your blogs and leave comments and see what you've been up to. I love this feature of blogs---ya'll are so inspiring!!! In the meantime, though, I want to thank all of you for all your kind comments about my piece for the 24 Hour Challenge, and now, your kind, soothing words of comfort for my current condition. You are all such blessings in my life!

Nancy,
I am so sorry that this happened to you and I wish I lived closer to take care of you. Where are the hunky men that are supposed to wait on you all the time and thread your needles for you?
Ah, I'm so sorry about you having to use a walker, but I can't see how it would help you either. How about just one crutch for the bad side-would that work? Or
even a cane.
Time will hopefully move quickly and the nice weather will get you outside in the fresh air.
A lime green cast w/ sparkles, it's *the* fashion accessory of the season and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. :D
I'm sure it sucks having a walker, but let's look at the bright side: People will gladly offer to help you with those bulky grocery bags and you can cut in line at the movie theatre or wherever and not feel guilty!
So sorry about the accident! Feel better soon!!
Hopefully as your body heals, you'll be able to manage the walker better :) You made me LOL big time, too, with that bright green cast ... I talked Mum into getting bright purple, it was a real hoot to see this silver-haired lady with her bright purple cast on, and was the starting point of many a conversation haha. Seriously, though, I know how difficult it was for Mum to cope and it put a strain on everyone concerned, so I know you'll be finding it difficult too ... hopefully your healing time will be quick, and your sense of humour will stay in tact and help you survive it ;) {{hugs}} for a quick recovery :))
Leg up, stitching out. Don't let it get you down. See you on the blogs, CJ
Nancy... you seem to be affected with Myrna-itis! I am such a klutz - it sounds like something I would do!
Please, just relax, and stitch up some of the lovely things I've seen on your blog!
I'll be thinking about you while I stitch with my left foot up. (the right toe is healing great, so I had the left one done.)
Hugs...
(((((Nancy))))) I'm so sorry to read your bad news :(
I hope your wrist and shoulder heal soon so can stitch your heart's content.
Big, big hugs to you!!
I am so sorry that this happened to you! I hope you are able to just sit and stitch. Miss hearing from you on the lists and hope you recover quickly!
Love your cast colour, so sorry to read that you had a fall, You have my full sympathy, I'm accident prone too and have managed to break my ankle 3 times so far. At least when thing settles down you will get loads of xtitching done. Take it carefull and letpeople if they are willing to run around behind you a little.
Nancy, girl… Do what the doctor says and get well! I didn’t realize you were doing all this hobbling around. You should be planted on your butt and kept there! We all want you well and in good working order. After all, who’s gonna get the jaws of life so the stitching sisters can be pryed out from under the desk… LOL… oh wait, that’s Susie! Well, I’m sure you’ve got some hand in it somehow!! :-) Take care and get well soon!
